Watchdog allows imports of canned sprats from Latvia, Estonia
MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has allowed Latvian company SIA Karavela and Estonian company DGM Shipping AS to export canned sprats to Russia, the service said in a statement on Monday.
In 2015, the watchdog banned imports of canned fish from 31 Estonian and 44 Latvian plants due to systematic discovery of violations by these plants, including insufficient control of safety of their products and of the content of benzapyrene in them.
The service will decide on lifting of the temporary ban on imports of canned sprats from other plants of the two countries after corresponding authorities of Latvia and Estonia provide materials proving that the companies fixed their violations, the service said.
